The Maedos Story.
A while ago when I decided to upgrade my old hifi, I was astounded at the unreasonably high price - it was the law of diminishing returns gone wild. Having suitable skills and resources to build my own, I decided to go it alone. I built a system around a DEQX which requires six channels of high quality amplification. I used three 41Hz Truepath amplifiers which are based on the Tripath TA3020 Evaluation Board. I optimized these amplifiers for my purpose. I blogged my experience at 41Hz' forum (username: audiophool) and found that there was interest in my optimisation and customisation. People asked me to design and/or build amps for them. I wrote an instruction to make my and others' knowledge on building the amps readily available. I found that I enjoyed helping others to get their hifi systems working but it was becoming unwieldy with my notes scattered across the forum, google docs, and elsewhere. Hence this site.
The part of making Truepath that I like most is the SMT soldering because it's so quick and easy once you get organized. The part of making Truepath that I like the least is preparing the coil ends because it's tedious.
I approach hifi with a philosophy that can be summed up in four words: There is no magic.
